When decorating and furnishing your home these days, it can be very difficult to choose the right accessories from such a wide variety of home furnishings available on the market. Many people are fascinated with the look of 18th Century homes and that period style of living. One of the attractions of the by-gone era was the furniture. Pain-stakingly made and hand-crafted to an extremely high standard, it stood out from everything else – and still does. Certainly not mass-produced like some of today’s pieces of furniture.
If you want your home to take on that period feel, then there is no better (or easier) way of doing it than with a Club Chair. Real Leather Club Chairs are designed to give your home a rich deep luxurious look. They are carved out of the finest hardwood and upholstered with the best quality leather. Leather Club Chairs not only look fantastic and feel comfortable, but are easy to clean and maintain as well, ideal in today’s modern and often busy world. They can be placed in any room to add a touch of class and elegance.
Club Chairs are versatile pieces of furniture designed to complement any home – large or small. This is one of the main attractions that make Leather Club Chairs so popular. If you prefer, your Club Chair can be made to incorporate arm rests – an added touch of luxury and style.

Hand-dyed leather, as the name suggests, is a fully aniline leather which has been hand-dyed and buffed, by skilled professionals, to give an extremely smooth finish and a rich deep colour. As with the Premium Leather, the hand-dyed leather has an amount of pull up too, therefore it will show colour variance across different parts of the Club Chair. Hand-dyed leather is the ultimate in leather finishing, adding an element of total individuality and uniqueness to your Club Chair.
The Hand-Dying process is a time honoured and traditional method of leather finishing, which has been done the same way for many centuries. The leather is vegetable tanned and hand-dyed before being sealed and sent for final assembly, where it will be applied to your Club Chair. This process results in a deep rich colour over a very fine grained leather – extremely soft to touch. The hand-dyed leather will develop it’s own characteristic patina after many years of use and really will become better over time.
Hand-dyed leather is our top range leather and is, without a doubt, the most exclusive of finishes to be found on a Club Chair. This type of leather is most likely to be found on our most exuberant Club Chairs.

One of the leathers we use for upholstery here at Distinctive Chesterfields, for your Club Chair, is Premium Leather. If you are looking for something more than standard in your Club Chair, then our Premium Leather range is for you.
Premium Leather is a semi-aniline pull up leather, which is creamed and moisturised by hand, after upholstering your Club Chair, to give an extra soft finish. This particular type of leather shows creases and signs of distress on your Club Chair. This is normal, as Premium Leather is one of the most natural leathers and extremely high in quality. It also has a pull up effect.
As this type of leather is pre-treated with a unique blend of natural finishing products, this gives a greater contrast on your Club Chair. The grain is finer than the standard Antique Leather and the Premium Leather is a lot softer to touch.
Because of the way it is treated, the leather colour will vary over different parts of the chair. Therefore, every Club Chair will be unique (regardless of the colour you choose) and have it’s own patina. A fantastic choice if you want something more.
The range of colours available is vast, with nineteen standard shades to choose from.

So you’ve chosen a colour scheme for your room/office. What you have to decide now is what type of leather you are looking for. Also, the quality of leather you choose will determine ultimately which colour you have to decide upon for your Club Chair.
We have three types of leather, at Distinctive Chesterfields, as standard for your Club Chair. These are Antique, Premium and Hand-Dyed. Here we take a look at Antique Leather.
Antique Leather is the standard leather used for Club Chairs and has been used for over a century to give Club Chairs a deep glossy finish.
Antique Leather is a hard-wearing, corrected grain leather. This type of leather is ‘blacked’ prior to being applied to the frame of the Club Chair, then once the Club Chair has been upholstered, the leather is hand-antiqued by partially ‘rubbing off’ the black coat on top to reveal a lighter more traditional colour underneath. Once this process has taken place, the entire Club Chair is then hand-sealed to protect the leather and enhance the final finish. This laborious technique gives the end product an authentic antiqued appearance. Antique Leather is very fine in quality and is available in ten different colours. These consist of:
Light Rust, Antique Rust, Autumn Tan, Tan, Brown, Gold, Red, Green, Olive and Blue.

There are so many things to consider when choosing a Chesterfield Club Chair. One of the most complex is always the choice of leather colour.
Traditionally, a Club Chair would be upholstered in antique brown, antique red or antique green but nowadays the sky’s the limit and the choice is yours. And it’s amazing what difference the choice of colour makes – something as simple as choosing a brighter colour can really lift and transform a room. Take, for example, a white Club Chair – now this would look great in a pub/club or loft apartment. Whereas a Club Chair covered in a darker hand-dyed chestnut leather gives a more rustic, homely feel. Whatever colour you decide, you can be assured that the Club Chair will retain it’s classic charm for which they are renowned for.
The colour you choose for your Club Chair depends entirely on the surroundings it will be placed in. So you need to decide what colour furniture will accentuate your room. If you have a modern lounge or environment, a lighter brown, blue, red or pale green would look fantastic. If you are furnishing a more traditional stately room or office, then the darker brown and antique colours would fit in better. Check out our range of colours at Distinctive Chesterfields to see which colour suits you best.

The Kendal Club Chair is without a doubt our most padded and luxurious Club Chair that we make.
Unlike the majority of our Club Chairs, which sport bun feet, the Kendal stands proud on it’s solid mahogany shaped legs. It has a single buttoned border and hand-nailed facings on each arm. The deep sumptuous cushion is hand-filled. The Kendal is a very regal looking Club Chair and comfort is it’s priority.
But the more noteable feature of the Kendal Club Chair is it’s over-stuffed arms and back. Filled with tough springs and super soft foam, it makes the Kendal Club Chair extremely comfortable and relaxing.
This is luxury on a grand scale. Just imagine coming home from a stressful day at work and sitting down in the most luxurious Club Chair. With it’s deep chunky cushion and broad cushioned arms and back, you feel like you are coccooned in comfort.
The Kendal Club Chair is particularly suitable for a larger living room, as it is a chair of larger than average proportions, but would look just as good in various club and office environments.
