These chairs were first seen in gentlemen’s clubs in the 1850′s and were designed to accomodate a man’s frame, especially those of the wealthier class who were often a little larger than their lower class counterparts. The chairs were of a rubust and masculine design often incorperating dark woods and strong, hard-wearing leathers. The design was simple yet surprisingly comfortable for those able to use them.

The chairs became less exclusive in the 20th century when more and more people began having them in their homes and offices. Today these fine chairs can be found in many upscale and casual environments giving style and comfort to all that use them.

The Darwin Chair – a classic buttoned tub chair, hand-crafted from hardwood, the Darwin Chair is beautifully made with careful attention to detail and design. The Darwin Chair has exposed polished legs and a fully buttoned interior and seat. It will grace and enhance any room.

This chair is a lot more sleek and modern looking than the traditional ‘chunky’ Club Chair. The arms are a lot narrower and it stands proud on raised legs, as opposed to the usual bun feet.

The Darwin Cushion Chair is a classic tub chair with fully buttoned arms and back, complete with cushioned seat. This is styled like the Darwin Chair but it’s obvious difference is the chunky hand-stuffed seat.

Both chairs exude comfort and luxuriousness, and would look ideal in a modern club setting. The leather is hand-finished for a unique and individual finish.

Also available is the Darwin Foot Stool.
